| thinktanktheatre create The Methvens Studio: Worthingís newest theatre |
thinktanktheatre have joined forces with Methvens Booksellers to develop Worthing’s newest theatre.
The new theatre is The Methvens Studio and is situated on the first floor of Methvens Bookshop in South Street, Worthing. Jane Huxley and Saul Ware, co-founders of thinktanktheatre, have teamed up with Andrew Bentley-Steed, Manager of the Methvens store, to create the new space.
“Performances will take place on the first floor of the store in the middle of the shop.” says Jane, “We’ll have to create the theatre from scratch for every single performance, it truly is an ‘empty space'. But we are definitely ready for the challenge and we’ve got lots of excellent plays in mind that will work very well there."
The new theatre’s first ever presentation will be thinktanktheatre’s production of Harold Pinter’s one-act masterpiece Ashes to Ashes, the long-awaited follow-up to the company’s highly acclaimed debut performances of The Lover also by Pinter. “Ashes to Ashes is a very intense and intimate play and The Methvens Studio is an absolutely perfect venue for it.” says Jane.
The performances will take place at The Methvens Studio, Methvens Bookshop, South Street, Worthing on Wednesday, 21st and Thursday, 22nd of February 2007. Further details will be released shortly but in the meantime Jane and Saul can be contacted at info@thinktanktheatre.co.uk .
